What do tenants ask before renting with Home Joburg?

The questions I hear most often, answered straight.

How does renting a home through Home Joburg work?

It starts with this application. I review every one personally and run a TPN credit check. Then I send you a short list of homes that genuinely suit how you live, and we view them together, by invitation. When you’ve found the one, I draw up the lease, collect the deposit and first month’s rent and arrange an independent in-going inspection before you move in.

What do I need to apply to rent a home in Johannesburg?

To apply, just your South African ID number or, if you’re moving from overseas, your passport number and date of birth. If your application goes ahead, I’ll ask for a copy of your ID or passport, proof of address and proof of income. Nothing else is needed at this stage.

How much do I need to earn to rent a home in Johannesburg?

In South Africa, landlords usually look for tenants who earn at least three times the monthly rent. So for a home at R35,000 a month, you’d want a monthly income of around R105,000. Tell me your budget on the form and I’ll only show you homes that sit comfortably within it.

Which Johannesburg suburbs are your rental homes in?

Mostly the northern suburbs: Parkhurst, Parkwood, Hyde Park, Westcliff, Dainfern, Steyn City and Waterfall among them. List the suburbs you’re considering on the form. If you’re not sure yet, tell me how you’d like to live and I’ll suggest where to look.

Can I rent a home in Johannesburg with pets?

Often, yes. Most landlords accept pets when they know the specifics, so tell me the breed, size, age and temperament on the form. I’ll only shortlist homes where your pets are genuinely welcome.
